The Marlins Women have been a success story since they first started in 2015. Making finals every year of the competition and winning a Grand Final in just their second year. Our women are always looking for new players and have a range of abilities and experience on their team from people who have never played before to those that have been their since the beginning and those that have come up through the juniors. We encourage anyone who is keen to come down and have a try, the competition is still young but we have some of the most experienced staff and players ready to show you what to do. And if you have experience or are looking to take steps into the AFLW, know that we have played in some of the most competitive games of the competition and have supported players to the professional level, so we know how to support you to make your footy dreams come true.
The Marlins Men have experienced great success over the nearly 40 years since the first team took the field in 1980. The number of Men's teams has fluctuated over time depending on numbers with the club currently fielding a senior side in 2019 with the hopes of reintroducing a reserves side in 2020. This goal places player recruitment and retention front and center of the objectives of the club this year. We are one of the closest teams to the Williamtown RAAF Base and have had many Defence players and their families join our club over the years. We are also highly focused on providing solid pathways for junior players to transition to the senior level and welcome under 17s to train with the seniors to help begin that process. We encourage all those interested in playing to come down and get involved at training. It doesn't matter if you have played your whole life or never before, the Marlins have the experience and culture to find the perfect place for you within our team.
Training for all teams will be held at 6pm on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Dick Burwell Oval from the 15th January onward. Dinner and Team Selection follows Thursday night training during the season and games are played on Saturdays from 12pm (usually) for the Women and 2pm for the Men. We welcome new players (and volunteers) all year round, so come along to training and get involved!
